I understand how it can feel when starting a business. OVERWHELMING. Starting a business is a lot of hard work. You have to think about products/services, budget, pricing, marketing, budget, planning, strategy...budget. Did I say budget? Yeah, budget is a big part of the overwhelm. So, having been there, done that, I want to give new business owners a leg up. We all don’t have the luxury to start with a large budget. Yes, you can choose to build your own site but let’s be real if it isn’t pretty that online presence won’t help much.
Here are some morsels I found about how vital the look of your website is:
"Consumers are 20% more trusting of websites than they were years ago—largely because websites today are prettier than the websites of 2006: As aesthetically orientated humans, we’re psychologically hardwired to trust beautiful people, and the same goes for websites." (Source: Kissmetrics)
"With websites becoming increasingly attractive ... this creates a greater feeling of trustworthiness and professionalism in online consumers." (Source: Kissmetrics)
I've had many clients reach out to me after spending hours attempting to build a website on their own. Only to give up and go searching for professional help. They made a good choice reaching out to me but imagine what they could’ve checked off their to-do list during the time. Unfortunately, some clients could not afford my services and took any advice I could give them. This breaks my heart because I know they will find someone within their budget but you get what you pay for. Most clients end up spending more than they originally planned only to find someone to fix the mistakes low budget web designers have made.
Yes, I have been the fixer and yes, I have lowered my rate for a client that came back pleading for help (only happened once). Not cool, Miriam! However, doing this is not fair to me or my clients who have paid full price for my services. I have a dog to feed and bills to pay just like everyone else.
So, I thought the best solution would be creating beautiful templates. Perfect for entrepreneurs with low budgets. My templates allow you to customize colors, images, and text to fit your brand and business. You will have access to video tutorials walking you through how to make those changes.
You can find my templates here.
I have to ask. When you started your business did you have a small budget for a website?
If you have any questions feel free to leave a comment and I’ll get back to you!
